Well, it’s done!  (Sort of…)

My first WordPress Theme is online!  You’re seeing it here.  It’s by no means 100% finished, but it’s really the first chance I’ve had to really work through the steps of creating a theme from start to finish.  Where it’s really lacking, I think, is in the design department.  You may notice that I drew a lot of inspiration from the previous theme (iNove), although honestly, when you start seeing so many of these themes, they all start to bleed into one another.  Graphically, I’m just not that inclined.  Especially when I’ve never done more than some basic editing in Photoshop and Fireworks.

That was actually one of my gifts for Christmas, some books on using Ps and Fw, so I’ll hopefully learn a bit more about site design.  I’m also scouring the ‘net for more design resources to give me the opportunity to try out different things.

To be honest, now that I’ve worked through a full creation, I might just go back and make the serious modifications that I want to iNove.  Always see what happens. =)

This year’s Christmas baking is pretty much finished.  I might have 1 more thing to do, but I doubt it at this point.

Here’s the tally:

  • 9 Dozen Andes Creme de Menthe Cookies
  • 10 Dozen Iced Pumpkin Cookies
  • 12 Dozen Quaker Oatmeal Raisin Cookies
  • 1 double batch PB Fudge
  • 4 Dozen Peanut Butter Blossoms (Hershey Kiss Cookies)
  • 4 Dozen Snickerdoodles
  • 4 Dozen Pillsbury Cookies
  • 1 Peanut Butter Log
  • 2 Batches of Pumpkin Bread (normally 6 full-size loafs)

Not as prolific as it was 3 years ago, but still more than enough sweets.  Now… just have to put all my trays together.

The news about Tiger the last week and change has been shocking to say the least.  Not one affair, but multiple.  And no, I haven’t put him on some “holier-than-thou” pedestal.

What’s really shocking, and curious to me, is that with Tiger such a high profile figure, you would have to figure that these women knew he was married.  And to an obviously gorgeous Elin Nordgren.  While I won’t ponder on Tiger’s decision to do it (I am a male, and do not condone it in the slightest), I’m curious about the women.  What possesses a woman who knows that the object of her desire is taken, and is basically using the situation for sex (maybe trinkets too), to engage in this kind of behavior?  Is there really some misguided delusion that they’ll leave their wife (through divorce) for them?

Inquiring minds want to know.

My lawnmower is on it’s last legs… =/  Time for a new one.

I got my lawnmower 2 years ago when I moved in.  Mom picked it up at an Estate Sale for like $20.  Nice mower, but it was a pain when I got it.  Now, it’ll barely stay running long enough for me to do my postage-stamp front yard.  The self-drive died shortly after I got it.

I’m looking at a self-propelled mower again (front-wheel drive this time, because of the grading of the lot).

So anyways – Sears has a couple nice models – around $300 and up.  (Craftsman, of course).  But, they also have some that have been returned (for various reasons, no one knows).  One they had out there was really nice – retails for over $400 new, for $245.  Electric start, big wheels, good sized motor, etc.  But no guarantees on what’s wrong with it.  They also have a lower tier model that sells new (similar features, smaller engine) for $330.

So… any thoughts or suggestions on what to do?

When I got home last night and crashed on the couch, there was an interesting show on HD Theatre (Discovery Channel HD).  Chronicled the story of two guys who won a contest in 2007 to ride a stage of the Tour (actually, about half of it).  (Offered as the L’Etape package from Trek Travel).  The got outfitted with brand new Madone bokes, full Discovery team kit, and “behind the ropes” access at the Tour.  They got to ride the route for what was stage 16 of that year’s Tour – over the Col ‘dPierre-St-Martin (Cat 1), Col d’Marie-Blanc (Cat 1), and finishing on the Col d’Aubisque (HC).  (Click here for the route – click on “Profile of the Stage”)  One of them dropped after the Marie-Blanc, but the other finished on the Aubisque.  His time – 7 hours and change.

But watching it made me want to do something like that for a vacation in the upcoming years.  Despite the pain, it looks like fun.
